the stock ones look a lot better, Not sure what the appeal of "Altezza lights" is.

Well, what we know of as the IS300 was released elsewhere as the Altezza. That's where the name came from. The tuner scene latched on like a pack of starving wolves to a deer because it was another way to stick something shiny on their car that was different than stock. The tuner scene around this time hated stock. This was before the JDM trend kicked in (possibly as a reactionary swing to the anti stock Altezza movement). To put this time in perspective the cars that would grace magazines would have a full page of lists of modifications. Usually the only thing not modified or swapped out was the roof.
